Bucking the current trend of over the top recipes, this beer is an easy-drinking throwback to the gold rush era, when refrigeration wasn’t available and the open-top brewing bins were cooled by winds off the pacific ocean. A popular ale amongst California’s laboring classes when the saloon was founded in 1880, it’s an overdue homecoming for the central coast. 1880 union is a historic stagecoach stop in Santa Barbara county. Rebuilt from a fire in 1915, it evolved into the hotel and saloon it is today.
