Winemaker Justin Harmon didn’t grow up around vineyards — he started in chemical and software engineering in Chicago. But a passion for wine and a leap of faith led him to Sonoma, where he launched Argot in 2007 with one ton of Syrah and a dream. Today, alongside his wife and business partner Beth, Argot crafts world-class Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet, and Syrah from some of Napa and Sonoma's most coveted vineyards. The nose offers an underpinning of flintiness and stone, which coils up the plunging depth of fruit defined by nectarine, green apple and orange rind. In the mouth, unctuous textures raise a crest of acidity that spins out endless yarns of flavors— pome and stone fruit, citrus and brioche—that persist deep into an exceptionally long finish.
