Luís Duarte has transformed winemaking in Alentejo over a 25-year career, leading acclaimed projects like Herdade do Esporão and Herdade dos Grous. One of Portugal’s most respected vignerons, he is the only winemaker to be named Winemaker of the Year twice—1997 and 2007. In 2007, Luís launched his own labels, Rapariga da Quinta and Rubrica, both quickly gaining international recognition. Introduced to the U.S. in 2010, both wines earned spots on Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 list. Rubrica, meaning “signature,” reflects the essence of Luís’s style—crafted from grapes grown on his 8-hectare estate, blending native Portuguese and French varieties, aged in French oak.
Produced by Luis Duarte on his Monte do Carrapatelo estate. Aged for 10 months in French oak. Aromas of blackberries are complimented by additional notes of spices and mint. The mouth is rich and concentrated with blackberries, a firm structure, good tannins and a refreshing acidity. An elegantly long finish.
