For over 25 years, Kaena has drawn on native Hawaiian intuition to craft distinctive, balanced wines of elegance, style, and power. This is achieved by sourcing from top vineyards and working closely with growers to ensure the highest quality fruit. Kaena combines the best of old- and new-world winemaking: fermentations rely on native yeasts, and caps are hand-punched for gentle extraction—producing age-worthy wines that express true varietal character and terroir. Widely recognized as one of North America's top Rhône-varietal producers, Kaena was founded by Oahu native Mikael Sigouin, who has earned the nickname "The King of Grenache" from his peers.
From the Winemaker
Sourced from the limestone laden hillsides of Tierra Alta Vineyard using three clones of Grenache; 362, Tablas, and Alban. Grapes were cold soaked for 5 days prior to fermentation using native yeast to attain a sense of terroir. The wine was aged for 18 months in Neutral French and American oak barrels prior to bottling.

Tasting Notes
Bright aromas of raspberry, cherry, and rhubarb, along with spiced aromas of sarsaparilla, white pepper, mineral, and herbs de Provence. Juicy flavors of raspberry, plum, and cherry, give way to a core filled with red licorice, leather, cola, mineral, and herbs de Provence. The finish is long with taught, spicy tannins.
