It all began on a small hill above Bolzano in 1979, when Rainer Loacker planted South Tyrol’s first organic vineyard—an idea many called crazy. But that bold step made Loacker a pioneer of biodynamic farming in Italy. Today, over 40 years later, the Loacker Wine Estate continues to lead with the same rebellious spirit. Rainer’s sons now run the estate, guided by his vision of sustainability and innovation. Head winemaker Hayo Loacker, trained in Dijon, focuses on single-vineyard crus to express the purest character of each site. With low yields and native yeast fermentation, Loacker crafts wines that speak authentically of their Alpine terroir—naturally, powerfully, and uniquely.

Wonderful aromas of red cherries, wild strawberries and forest floor, with hints of green bell pepper and black pepper. On the palate, vibrant and pleasant flavors of cherry, strawberry jam, raspberry and cranberry with herbal undertones of mint, sandalwood and pepper. It has good acidity and soft tannins on the long finish.

Grapes: 87% Vernatsch (Schiava), 10% Lagrein, 3% Pinot Noir. Aged 12 months in barrels.
